Tier 3 Services

T3 (Tier 3) Advanced Troubleshooting and Software Engineers for MRI and CT systems are highly specialized professionals focusing on the intersection of complex, high-field imaging hardware, software diagnostics, and image quality optimization. These engineers serve as the highest level of technical support for medical imaging breakdowns, often handling issues that cannot be resolved by site-based or L1/L2 technicians. [1, 2, 3]Core Responsibilities

  • Complex Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and repairing intricate, intermittent, or rare failures in MRI (\(1.5\text{T}-3\text{T}\)) and CT scanners.
  • Software & Image Quality Analysis: Resolving image artifacts, optimizing image reconstruction algorithms, and debugging system software for PACS connectivity.
  • System Architecture Expertise: Understanding and analyzing the full, integrated system, including DICOM, network configuration, and data workflows.
  • Escalation Support: Serving as the key contact for difficult repairs, often mentoring or providing remote support to Field Service Engineers (FSEs).
  • Maintenance & Installation: Performing, planning, and overseeing advanced preventative maintenance (PM) and new system installations (e.g., GE HealthCare Discovery PET/CT). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

Specific MRI/CT Focus Areas

  • CT Breakdowns: Fixing gantry rotation errors, X-ray tube failures, detector array issues, and console software freezing (e.g., GE or Siemens systems).
  • MRI Software Issues: Resolving boot failures, crash logs during pulse sequences, firmware mismatches, and MR imaging artifacts.
  • Component Repair: Replacing major components such as cold heads, gradient coils, or high-power RF amplifiers. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Qualifications & Expertise

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent military education.
  • Experience: Generally 4–8+ years of experience in servicing advanced medical imaging equipment.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in digital electronics, computer networking (DICOM/PACS), and specific OEM equipment training
